Cosina unveils $700 Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.2 for Fujifilm X system cameras

Cosina has announced its new Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1. 2 lens for Fujifilm X series camera systems. While this lens features the same focal length and aperture as its M-mount equivalent, it features a different optical design and construction specifically for Fujifilm’s X mount cameras.

The fully-manual lens features an electronic chip for transferring EXIF data to the camera body from the lens, which should enable focus verification, parallax correction and in-body image stabilization for compatible cameras. Below is a pair of charts showing which X system cameras are and aren’t able to make use of the lens mount communications of the Nokton 35mm F1. 2 lens:

The lens is constructed of eight elements in six groups. It uses a 12-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 30cm (1ft) and has an aperture range of F1. 2 through F16. As for size, it measures 60mm (2. 4”) in diameter by 40mm (1. 5”) long and weighs 196g (7oz). Below is a sample gallery of images captured with the lens, provided by Cosina:

The lens is scheduled to be released next month (August 2021) for 78,000 Japanese Yen, which converts to just over $700.
