Here's How That Snake vs Iguana Chase Was Shot By 'Planet Earth'

Unless you’ve been off the grid for a week, you’ll have seen the thrilling Snake vs Iguana clip from BBC’s ‘Planet Earth II’ making waves online. In the video, a just-hatched marine iguana in the Galapagos must escape a pack of vicious racer snakes.

If you haven’t seen it, you really should take a look.

Now the ever-exemplary BBC crew have shared some behind the scenes footage of the sequence, giving viewers a taste of the work that goes into making such a high-end nature documentary. In the 360-degree video, you can see some of the gear that was used in the shoot, including a DJI Ronin gimbal, used for following the Iguanas as they made their desperate dash across the sand.

As an alternative to the miraculous escape of the version that aired on Sunday, the behind the scenes footage shows what happens to baby Iguanas that aren’t so quick-witted. Not recommended for the faint of heart.
