It's a little bit of a mystery why anyone would buy a Yongnuo knock-off lens instead of a second-hand Nikon or Canon prime, but well, regardless of that fact, their lenses are quite popular. The Yongnuo 50mm f/1.

8 was a surprising hit for Canon users who wanted an even cheaper "nifty-fifty", and then they followed up with a few more primes.

This year they finally provided F-mount users with a similarly budget option by introducing the 50mm f/1. 8 and 35mm f/2. 0, and now we are able to see some photos of the new 85mm f/1. 8 YN, which hasn't been released yet.

The current Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1. 8G is US$450, while the Samyang 85mm f/1. 4 lens is US$289.

Yongnuo's copy should be significantly cheaper than Nikon's one, and most likely also cheaper than Samyang's.

Not much is known about the lens yet, but Nikon Rumors is saying the lens will have 9 elements in 6 groups, a minimum focusing distance of . 85m, and that the lens will weigh 460g.

It probably won't come out by the end of the year, and PetaPixel are reporting that Yongnuo said the lens will be released March 2017.
