With its penta-camera setup that includes two 12MP RGB and three 12MP monochrome sensors, the Nokia 9 PureView offers arguably the most unusual camera technology on any current smartphone. Despite the innovative technology, initial camera reviews have been lukewarm, however.
Now, Nokia is improving some aspects of camera performance with the help of a software update. The update with build number V4. 27C brings a new live bokeh mode to the Nokia 9. This enables users to adjust the focus point and blur strength on the preview image before capture, as well as in post-processing on the device. The update also increases the speed of image processing which means images can now be captured in faster succession.
Additionally, the new software brings improvements to some non-camera features. Nokia says the speed of the fingerprint reader has been improved and there are also some stability fixes and user interface enhancements. The Android security patch for July 2019 is included as well. The update is currently rolling out in Finland and Russia, other regions should receive it over the course of the coming weeks.
