Ricoh has released firmware version 1. 20 for its GR III camera, bringing with it new features and improved performance across the board. On the feature front, firmware version 1. 20 adds a new ‘Grain Effect’ option to its Monotone, Soft Monotone, Hard Monotone and Hi-Contrast B&W modes as an adjustment tool.

Ricoh has also added a new ‘Horizon Correction’ tool under the ‘Shooting Assist’ menu.

Performance and stability has also been improved in a few areas. Now, when starting up the camera with the ‘Playback’ button, the GR III will boot up faster than previous firmware versions. Ricoh has also improved the shutter speed release time when shooting subjects with varying brightness in continuous mode and has fixed an issue where the camera would incorrectly autofocus behind a subject when shooting in ‘Auto-area AF’ mode. Other unspecified changes have also been made for more stable operation and improved performance.

You can download the latest firmware and find installation instructions on Ricoh’s GR III website.
