Rumours Suggest GoPro 6 Could Soon Be Here

Almost exactly a year ago GoPro, the market-leading action camera brand, launched a new flagship model in the shape of the GoPro 5. Well, if the rumours from various rumour sites are accurate, we could see a new top-line model released in the next week or so.

Photo Rumours has listed a number of claimed specifications and they make for interesting reading. Apparently, the GoPro 6 Black will now film footage in ultra high-quality 4K footage at 60FPS, an improvement from 30FPS on the GoPro 5 and a development that will open the door for creatives to use the footage for dramatic slow motion sequences.

Rumours suggest the replacement for the popular GoPro 5 may shoot 4K at 60FPS.

It’s claimed a new processor will enable the GoPro 6 to shoot a lightning quick frame rate of 240FPS in Full HD quality (1080p), adding further options for creating super slow motion footage to a videographer’s arsenal. However, it appears a few key specifications will remain unchanged – namely the resolution staying at 12-megapixels and the underwater depth limit remaining at 10 metres.

It seems those interested in the new GoPro model won’t have long to wait as the suggest release date for the GoPro 6 could be as soon as September 28, with a probable US price tag of $499. However, that date may not be the only product released by GoPro as it’s suggest the new version of GoPro’s drone, the Karma 2. 0, could also be released. Improvements for the drone could see support for the GoPro 6, along with additional tracking movements such as a ‘Follow & Watch’. Will you be holding out for the new GoPro 6 and the new Karma drone or are the improvements a little on the modest side?
