Sigma Acknowledge Incompatibility Issue with Canon 5D Mark IV

Sigma has officially acknowledged a lens incompatibility flaw with its new lenses when used with the Canon 5D Mark IV. In the statement released a few days ago, the company detailed a selection of currently unavailable features including; the MO (Manual Override) function, and lens correction features - such as Peripheral illumination correction, Chromatic aberration correction, Diffraction correction and Distortion correction.

Sigma recommend Canon 5D Mark IV users switch to full-time manual mode and disable lens correction. In the past, Sigma has kept its consumers up-to-date on issues and fixes coming down the pipeline; however, no word of a firmware update to resolve these current issues has been made so far.

Sigma is a popular third-party manufacturer, so its lenses cannot be not expected to work straight out of the gate like a Canon lens would. The problem is that as camera manufacturers add newer features into the mix, unexpected compatibility issues will occur more often when using third party lenses.

Time will tell whether or not Sigma can resolve the problem, but for now it seems that bug may take a while to sort out.
