Video: A brothers' road-trip around Washington State in 'Return to Western'

The ongoing global pandemic has wrought havoc on everyone's lives in some way, and one experience that has been common across the country and the globe is that of students losing the in person experience of school.

Whether it's high-schoolers losing their prom, college freshmen losing their first year on campus or graduates missing out a graduation ceremony. Isaac Lowe-Anker, younger brother of photographer Max Lowe graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham last year in graphic design and illustration. Like a whole generation of young adults last year, he graduated alone in his apartment under strict lockdown.

In this video, Max takes Isaac back to Bellingham, before celebrating his graduation with a road trip out into the San Juan Islands and across to the Olympic Peninsula. Along the way, Isaac explores his feelings about entering the adult world during the pandemic, and sketches his way through the beautiful landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

Throughout the trip, Max captured both their journey and Isaac's artwork with a range of Sony cameras and lenses.
