Canon Patent Gives Peek At New Hybrid Optical/Electronic Viewfinder Tech
ÔÎÒÎ: digitalrev.com

A patent from Canon that demonstrates a potential hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder has found its way online. Patent number 2016-173443 was filed on 17 March 2015 and finally published on 29 September 2016.

Though it is very open to interpretation it seems to suggest that the system will switch between the two modes automatically in order to assist the AF tracking system.

Though this system sounds like a way to bridge the gap between mirrorless and DSLR camera users, this is, at the end of the day, a patent and may never see the light of day in a practical form.

Canon Rumors suggest that this hybrid may be implemented in the new EOS Rebel DSLR but as yet, for now, nothing is confirmed.
