Canon has published their First Quarter of 2024 Financials

Today, Canon released their financials for the first quarter of 2024. Overall the company's sales increased for the year, but operating profit was down. Personally I think the first 3 months of the calendar year are always tough to predict because a lot of it depends on what was left over from Christmas.

Upcoming 2024 Canon RF lens recap

The last day or two we have seen a flurry of information for all things RF mount lenses, which also includes the addition of both SIGMA and Tamron to the fray. Simon from The Ordinary Filmmaker is the source for a lot of this information.

The first SIGMA RF lens arrives in July, more in Q4 of 2024

SIGMA has announces which lenses will be coming to the RF mount in 2024 and the first one will hit the market in July of this year. The cavaet? Just like the initial launch of Z mount lenses for Nikon, they first round of lenses for the RF mount from SIGMA will be for APS-C.

Canon Patent Application: APS-C Dual Fisheye

In this patent application (2024-055909) Canon discusses quite a few embodiments of an dual fisheye 3D/VR lens similar to the RF5. 2mm f/2. 8L Dual Fisheye. The one of interest, is the APS-C embodiment as it's one that is rumored to be coming out soon.

Canon officially registers a second unannounced EOS R camera body

On March 29, 2024, Canon registered two new cameras for WiFi and Bluetooth approval with a government agency. This falls nicely into the late April – May announcements coming from Canon. The cameras registered carry the model codes DS126922 and DS126928.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II will ship in June or July

Canon’s corporate strategy for 2024 released
