The Fujifilm GF 80mm F1.7 R WR Is a 63mm G1.3 Equivalent Lens for the GF System

When the Fujifilm GF system launched, one of the first lenses that I expected was the Fujifilm GF 80mm f1. 7 R WR. But that consistently was not what we were getting. What I was always told was that "Medium format is hard to make this for!" But I'd always respond with a reminder that the GF format is larger than full-frame, but it isn't a proper medium format system since it doesn't even reach a 645 sensor size.

To that end, I've always believed that a company as innovative as Fujifilm could make f1. 2 or f1. 4 lenses for medium format. While I think that the Fujifilm GF 80mm f1. 7 R WR is a great pivot in the right direction, I'm also hoping that they'll be able to keep their cameras, autofocus technology, and image quality all pointed in the same path. .
