A Preference of Old or New: Modern Lenses or Vintage Glass?

We've complained often about the lack of character in modern camera lenses. Manufacturers engineer the character out of them to make them clinical. Some folks prefer the look of vintage lenses. Other photographers like what modern lenses do.
